About the project

About EditPolygon

A free browser-based editor for drawing, inspecting, validating, repairing and converting polygon geometry.

What EditPolygon does

EditPolygon supports drawing and editing Polygon and MultiPolygon geometry, including vertex editing, holes, property inspection, geometry validation and repair, and operations such as merge, cut, intersect, clip, erase and split.

Supported import and export workflows include KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, TopoJSON, zipped ESRI Shapefile, WKT and CSV. The editor also supports project files and image or GeoTIFF reference workflows.

Privacy and local processing

Imported geometry files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to or stored by EditPolygon. The application does make normal web requests to third-party providers when loading map tiles, basemaps or place-search results. Those providers may receive normal request information such as your IP address and browser details.

Limitations

EditPolygon is a general-purpose editing tool. It does not replace authoritative source data, professional surveying, legal boundary advice or a complete desktop GIS. Coordinate reference assumptions, format compatibility and exported results must be checked before operational, legal or safety-critical use.

Feedback and corrections

Report a problem, suggest a workflow or propose a correction by emailing [email protected]. Do not send sensitive geometry unless you have permission to share it.

Content policy

The guides are intended to document genuine workflows and technical concepts. Pages should be updated when the product changes materially; dates should not be changed merely to make old content appear new.
